Guides and Curricula
National Agricultural Literacy Curriculum Matrix– The National Agricultural Literacy Curriculum Matrix is an online, searchable, and standards-based curriculum map for K-12 teachers. The Matrix contextualizes national education standards in science, social studies, and nutrition education with relevant instructional resources linked to Common Core Standards.
School Garden Wizard – Gardening and plant-based learning open a door to discovery of the living world. It stimulates even as it focuses and calms. Within the school environment, a garden offers an unparalleled platform to help kids achieve learning goals in ways that are recommended by the National Science Standards and most state and local educational bodies.
Food Day School Curriculum&PDF Resources – Designed for upper elementary and middle school students, the curriculum offers five lessons designed to teach children the importance of eating real, fresh food; cutting back on processed foods; and advocating for a healthier community.
The Growing Classroom– This award-winning resource book ($40)for educators contains 480 pages of science, math, language arts, and nutrition activities that you can do with your students in the garden.
Getting Started– The Life Lab Science Program distilled their years of world-wide school garden experience into a concise 50-page guide that asks and answers most questions you need to consider for creating an outdoor classroom garden.
National Agricultural Library– USDA collection of curricula and lessons
MyPlate Curricula and Resources– Parents and teachers are invited to use the MyPlate Kids’ Place resources to deliver credible information and find “teachable moments” that will influence children’s choices at home and at school.
